Motorola welcomed the new year with two improved handsets, the RIZR Z6 and MING with EDGE, and its new Bluetooth Stereo Headphone S9.

Modeled after the RIZR Z3, the new RIZR Z6 looks almost identical to its predecessor, except for a possibly lighter shade of grey on its external chassis. On the inside, however, this RIZR upgrade runs on the new Linux-Java software platform and is the first Motorola handset to incorporate Windows Media technologies. Support for Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) will also let users synchronize music from the PC to the phone from more than 200 online music stores.

From the given specifications, the new MING with EDGE seems to be based on the current MING model, features- and design-wise, with just EDGE support added on.

It is, however, Motorola's new stylish Bluetooth Stereo Headphone S9 headwear that steals the limelight. Aimed at active lifestyle users, it has a sweat- and water-resistant design as well as lightweight form factor. Music and calls can be controlled from the headset which claims playback music for up to 6 hours on a single charge.

According to Motorola Singapore, the RIZR Z6 and S9 headset are expected in Singapore and selected Asia markets, though no dates were firmed. The availability of the MING with EDGE could not be confirmed at press time.
